Lien Dewijngaert
TRAVERSO
Lien Dewijngaert was born in Belgium in 2000. At the age of 8 she started taking music and transverse flute classes at the Academie Haspengouw. In 2017 she was then admitted to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where she obtained her bachelor's degree in transverse flute in 2020, in the class of Frank Hendrickx.
During her studies, her interest in the more theoretical aspects of music grew and she decided to also specialise in music theory. Lien intensively studied harmony, counterpoint and fugue, completing a Master's degree in ‘music theory and writing’ in 2024. At this moment she is focussing on also getting a Pedagogical Master's diploma at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
Meanwhile as a performer, she came into contact with ‘early music’ and wanted to learn more about historical instruments and performance practice. She took traverso lessons with Stefanie Troffaes and Anna Besson, participated in masterclasses with Barthold Kuijken and Patrick Beuckels, and studies harpsichord and basso continuo with Kris Verhelst. Lien is one of the founding figures of Komorebi Consort and one of the driving forces behind the ensemble. Besides playing the flute on stage, she is also very active behind the stage, where she passionately takes care of the general direction of Komorebi Consort.
