TRAVERSO

Lien Dewijngaert

At the age of 8, Lien started taking music lessons at the Academie Haspengouw. After completing High school (visual arts), she decided to delve deeper into music. She was then admitted to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where she obtained her bachelor's degree in (modern) flute in 2020 in the class of Frank Hendrickx.

During her conservatory studies, her interest in the more theoretical aspects of music grew and she decided to follow a course in 'Music Theory and Writing'. She successfully completed the study of harmony, counterpoint and fugue, and obtained her Master's degree in 2024.

In the last couple of years, Lien came into contact with ‘early music’ and decided to also specialize in period instruments and historically informed performance practice. She took traverso lessons with Stefanie Troffaes and Anna Besson. In addition to her interest in historic flutes, she also plays a bit of harpsichord and takes basso continuo lessons with Kris Verhelst.

Besides her artistic activities, she's currently studying for a Pedagogical Master's diploma at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.
