TRAVERSO
Lien Dewijngaert
At the age of 8, Lien started taking music lessons at the Academie Haspengouw. In addition to her main instrument, flute, she later also studied jazz/pop singing and classical piano at the same school.
After completing High school (visual arts), she decided to delve deeper into music. She was then admitted to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, where she obtained her bachelor's degree in flute in 2020 in the class of Frank Hendrickx.
During her conservatory studies, her interest in the more theoretical aspects of music grew and she decided to follow a course in 'Music Theory and Writing', for which she obtained a Master's degree in 2024.
She also came into contact with ‘early music’ and decided to specialize in historical instruments and performance practice. Lien took traverso lessons with Stefanie Troffaes, and is now part of Anna Besson's class at the conservatory, where she also learns how to play the Renaissance traverso and simple system keyed flute. In addition to playing these historic flutes, she takes harpsichord and basso continuo lessons with Kris Verhelst.
