Edilsa Samanez is a Peruvian soprano from Lima, specializing in Baroque and early music. She graduated in Classical Singing from the National Conservatory of Music of Peru before continuing her studies in Europe at the Conservatoire du Grand Besançon Métropole, where she studied with Aniella Zins. She later obtained a Master’s degree in Baroque Singing and a specialized Master’s degree in 18th-century Latin American Baroque music at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles, in the class of Nicolas Achten.
As a soloist and ensemble singer, Edilsa has performed extensively across Europe at major early music festivals and venues. Following her participation in a Bach project conducted by Sigiswald Kuijken in 2023 and a Bach masterclass with Peter Kooij and Philippe Herreweghe in 2024, she has been regularly invited to collaborate with Collegium Vocale Gent.
Her artistic activity also includes collaborations with ensembles and artists such as Scherzi Musicali, Ricercar Consort, and Philippe Pierlot. She has taken part in two CD recordings with Scherzi Musicali, featuring works by Francesca Caccini and Joseph-Hector Fiocco.
In 2025, she founded Auroras Mestizas, an ensemble dedicated to exploring and sharing 18th-century Latin American Baroque repertoire, bringing together her European early music training and her Latin American musical heritage.
