VIOLONCELLO

Anna Johannsen

I am a Danish/Italian cellist specializing in historical performance practices. After completing a bachelor’s degree in modern cello in Copenhagen, I now study Baroque cello at the Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles in the class of Hervé Douchy. Fascinated by the research of the methods, techniques and instruments of the past, I love exploring different possibilities suggested by the sources, challenging our contemporary notion of « how it was back then ».

As a freelance musician, I regularly play with Kore Orchestra in Poland and Holmens Barokensemble in Copenhagen, and also played with Concerto Copenhagen, Camerata Øresund and other projects in Sweden, Germany and Italy.

My second passion is lutherie, which I simultaneously study at ILSA in Antwerpen.
